50th Anniversary

PSABC Celebrates 50 Years!

2026 marks the 50 year anniversary of the Preservation Society of Asheville and Buncombe County! Since our organization was founded in 1976, what was once a determined volunteer-led effort has become a thriving local non-profit. In 50 years, we have accomplished so much—including permanently protecting 49 properties in the county, distributing over half a million dollars in preservation grants, and advocating for some of the community’s most vulnerable and valuable resources. Our Board of Directors and staff (of now 5!) are grateful to build upon an incredible legacy of local preservation.

In honor of PSABC’s 50th anniversary, throughout the year we will be hosting special events to commemorate this important milestone. We hope you will celebrate with us as we remember our past and look towards our future!
